Nissan to Show Off Three New 2022 Frontier Concepts

Nissan will be showing off three new concept vehicles based on the all-new 2022 Nissan Frontier. These concept pickups will demonstrate the flexibility and versatility of the Frontier and what consumers can hope to expect should they purchase one. The three concepts are called Project 72X, Project Hardbody, and Project Adventure. Nissan’s design team was responsible for creating the new pickups as a way to show off their potential. The three concepts represent different aspects of the outdoors. Outdoor enthusiasts will find that with the 2022 Nissan Frontier, they have the ability to modify their vehicle to best suit their needs. We’ll take a closer look at the three concepts and learn more about their versatility. 

Nissan Project 72X

One of the first concept pickups based on the 2022 Nissan Frontier is the Project 72X. This concept is a modern take on the 1979 Nissan Datsun 720 which was one of Nissan’s first vehicles assembled in the United States. Nissan’s design team used gray exterior tones and graphics to give this modern pickup a cool undertone. It features white-painted steel wheels and includes a 2.5-inch lift kit with adjustable front upper suspension arms. It also has a sports bar behind the cab.

Nissan Project Hardbody

Nissan’s next concept pickup is called Project Hardbody. This pickup pays homage to the Nissan D21 Hardbody which was Nissan Design America’s first truck. The concept features a 3-inch lift kit with adjustable upper control arms and over-fenders. It also features classic Hardbody block-style wheels with 33-inch tires, a sport bar with rectangular LED lights, a blacked-out front end, and door graphics with shadow outlining.

Nissan Project Adventure 

The third Nissan concept pickup is the Project Adventure. This pickup features a 5-inch lift kit and comes equipped with 34-inch mud-terrain tires. It also features a Yakima bed rack system, a Yakima roof basket, a sky tent, a Bluetooth bed audio system, and a special carbon-fiber snorkel. There’s also a custom body wrap with an atlas of the US in case owners need directions.

These three concept pickups demonstrate the capability and versatility of the 2022 Nissan Frontier. They feature specialized versions of the pickup which can appeal to a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts. About the three concepts, Nissan’s project lead design Hiren Patel said,

“Truck culture is now very broad – hardcore off-roaders, overlanders, surfers and kayakers, environmentalists, fishing and hunting outdoor enthusiasts, and more. We’re offering three styles to show how they could modify their own new Frontier,” Hiren Patel.
