Nissan Plans 17,000-Mile Trip From the Poles Using the All-Electric Ariya
Nissan will be planning a monumental trip with its all-new all-electric 2023 Nissan Ariya. The Japanese automaker will be pairing with Pole to Pole founder Chris Ramsey to embark on a 17,000-mile trip from the north pole to the south pole. Ramsey will drive a custom-built Nissan Ariya that will feature Nissan’s e-4ORCE technology. This trip will help demonstrate the capability and versatility of the Nissan Ariya. As of late, Nissan has been busy focusing on its electrification efforts as well as updating its all-electric Nissan Leaf. This latest endeavor will help bolster excitement for the automaker’s next electric vehicle. We’ll take a look at the details and see what Nissan hopes to accomplish with this 17,000-mile trip.
Nissan Ariya To Embark on 17,000-Mile Trip
Nissan will be collaborating with Pole to Pole founder Chris Ramsey to embark on a 17,000-mile trip from the north pole to the south pole. Ramsey will make the trip using a custom Nissan Ariya that will feature Nissan’s e-4ORCE technology. E-4ORCE is Nissan’s advanced all-wheel control technology that manages power output and braking performance. It provides smooth driving and stability by tracing the driving line over all types of terrain, including the wet and snowy roads expected on such a trip.
The 2023 Nissan Ariya comes equipped with either a single motor or a dual motor. For this expedition, Ramsey will most likely utilize the dual-motor setup which provides 389 horsepower and 442lb-ft of torque. Together with the Ariya’s regenerative braking and e-4ORCE technology, Ramsey should have no problem traversing the icy terrain of the poles. About his long journey, Ramsey said,
“Our mission is to show that electric vehicles can tackle the harshest of environments – from the bitter cold of the poles to the hot and humid jungles of South America, and illustrate that they are exhilarating to drive whilst meeting the daily demands of drivers around the world. It’s fantastic to see such an important and innovative global brand partner with our expedition,” Chris Ramsey.
Ramsey will use a modified Nissan Ariya with a custom bolstered exterior. The electric SUV will also feature upgraded wheels and tires as well as an upgraded suspension. Ramsey will journey through mountains, jungles, deserts, and of course, snowy landscapes. A second Nissan Ariya will follow behind him as a support vehicle as he traverses through the Americas. The 17,000-mile trip will begin in March of 2023. If Ramsey can successfully complete the trip, he will be the first person to have driven from the north pole to the south in an EV.
