Nissan Maxima Receives Several Updates for 2022

The Maxima is Nissan’s flagship full-size sedan and it enters the 2022 model year with a few changes that consumers should take note of. Updates At a Glance

For starters, the Platinum trim gets heated rear seats and a new “Carnelian Red” exterior color is added to the color palette. Pricing of the Maxima has also gone up a bit but it’s not too overbearing. For example, the 2022 Maxima SV trim now has a base price of $37,240 ($150 more than the 2021 model), the SR trim starts at $42,400 (also up by $150), and the Platinum trim is now going for $42,550 ($230 more than the previous model).  

The Future of Maxima

Power under the hood is the same for all trim levels, so that means all trims receive the same 3.5 L V6 that produces 300hp and 261 lb-ft of torque. It is uncertain what Nissan has planned for the Maxima in the long run. Some online sources indicate that the Maxima may be discontinued soon and replaced with an EV, but that hasn’t been confirmed by the automaker. What we do know is that Nissan is trying to get the most out of its current sedan lineup with the Maxima leading the charge. Ultimately, with Nissan’s recent multi-billion dollar investment toward electrification, it is almost certain that the Maxima will in some shape or form be electrified or replaced by some EV later on in the future along with the rest of the sedan lineup.
