Nissan will be working alongside Fermata Energy to develop a bi-directional charger for the 2023 Nissan Leaf. This charger will allow the all-electric SUV to be used as a source of energy for buildings and power grids. Designed by Fermata Energy, the bi-directional charger is able to send power to the Nissan Leaf and utilize any excess energy. This new charger improves the Leaf’s versatility and helps create a more efficient future. Electric vehicles have been a priority for many automakers, including Nissan. 2023 Nissan Leaf Sees Upgrade With Bi-Directional Charger
The 2023 Nissan Leaf will now feature an all-new bi-directional charger, courtesy of Fermata Energy. This new charger will help increase the all-electric SUV’s versatility by turning it into a source of power. Designed by Fermata Energy, the bi-directional charger utilizes excess power stored in the Leaf’s battery and sends it wherever necessary. This excess power can be sent to energy grids, buildings, or any compatible system. The process provides a renewable solution that complements the 2023 Nissan Leaf.
The 2023 Leaf comes equipped with either a 40 kWh or a 60 kWh battery pack depending on the trim. The 40 kWh battery is offered with the S trim. It’s combined with a 110 kW motor and produces 147 horsepower. The 60 kWh battery pack is offered with the SV Plus trim and uses a 160 kW motor to produce 214 horsepower. With the new bi-directional charger, owners will see increased efficiency with how they use their Nissan Leaf.Â
Together with the new bi-directional charger, the 2023 Nissan Leaf sees increased efficiency. The electric SUV can be simultaneously charged while producing power for others. Fermata Energy has also developed an application that monitor’s a building’s electrical loads. During conditions that demand additional energy, the 2023 Nissan Leaf can be depended on to safely send any energy stored in its battery. Starting at an MSRP of $27,800 (plus destination fee), the 2023 Leaf offers high capability and efficiency.
