2022 Nissan Rogue Sport vs 2022 Nissan Kicks

Nissan’s compact SUV offerings are the Rogue and the Nissan Kicks. Even though these vehicles are at the lower end of the spectrum in Nissan’s SUV lineup, they offer incredible value for first-time SUV buyers. The major selling point for the 2022 Nissan Kicks is its low base price of $19,600 (plus destination fee) and is Nissan’s smallest SUV. It benefits from its superb fuel efficiency, but it also evades all-wheel-drive and some consumers may feel disappointed by that. On the other hand, the 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport is slightly larger than the Kicks offering more cargo room and interior space for passengers. Both vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses, and this article is meant to educate consumers on making a more informed buying decision when considering the Nissan Rogue Sport or Nissan Kicks as their next potential family vehicle.

2022 Nissan Rogue Sport

The 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport is powered by a 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine that makes 141hp and 147 lb-ft of torque via a continuously variable transmission (CVT). From a starting base price of $24,160 (plus destination fee) consumers can experience sporty handling in a fun-to-drive package. With available front-wheel and all-wheel-drive capability, the Nissan Rogue Sport is designed for city driving and occasional off-road run (but the AWD system is more optimal for moderate terrain rather than serious off-roading). Inside the cabin is a 7-inch touchscreen that comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On the higher trims, drivers get Nissan’s ProPiot Assist Safety Suite, which includes a whole set of safety features.

2022 Nissan Kicks

As Nissan’s smallest SUV, the Nissan Kicks tries its best to stand out from the crowd with its quirky and nimble design. Under the hood is a 1.6 L 4-cylinder that produces 122hp and 114 lb-ft of torque via a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Its power output makes the Nissan Kicks the least fastest vehicle in Nissan’s SUV lineup, but it favors fuel efficiency more than speed. It gets 31mpg in the city, 36mpg on the highway, and 33mpg of mixed driving making it an ideal daily commuter. The Nissan Kicks comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen (but consumers can upgrade to a larger 8-inch unit). Driver’s can experience luxury-like features such as a surround-view camera, a premium sound system, synthetic leather upholstery seats with heating functions along with heated steering wheel.

Which One Should You Buy?

We recommend the 2022 Nissan Kicks for consumers who want to prioritize fuel efficiency and that are working with a strict budget. The Kicks is $4,560 less than a base model Rogue Sport which is why we think it’s best suitable for those individuals that are thinking of getting an economical daily driver. However, those that can spend a little more can opt for the Nissan Rogue Sport for its larger cargo space and larger interior. It’s more powerful than the Kicks in terms of speed and it favors limited off-road driving while the Kicks is more of a city commuter.
