For the 2022 model year, Nissan decided to drop the continuously variable transmission for a nine-speed automatic transmission. This proves quite versatile as the nine-speed is good for fuel economy. While the Pathfinder gets an EPA estimated rating of 21 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg combined, the nine-speed lets drivers control their mileage. This is accomplished by the Pathfinder’s overdrive gears which go from 7th, 8th, to 9th. This lets drivers save fuel as they can remain within each of these ranges to get the most out of their tank.

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder also comes with the option of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. All-wheel drive will grant owners the option of a new drive mode. This new drive mode has seven modes with two focusing on off-road capability. This helps immensely especially since the Pathfinder can come equipped with 6000-pounds of towing capacity with the right package. 

2) Cargo Room

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is an eight-seater family SUV. It has three rows with the option for captain’s chairs, though these limit the seating capacity to seven seats. The rows inside the SUV are arranged in such a way that passengers will enjoy plenty of legroom. The family SUV also offers more storage space than ever before with integrated storage cubbies throughout the cabin along with a large bin below the center console.

3) Electronic Power Steering

Another highlight of the 2022 Pathfinder is its electronic power steering system. An electronic steering system relies on an electric motor which draws power from the vehicle’s electrical system. This helps drivers as the system draws energy sparingly, thus demanding little effort to turn. With the motor and torque sensor, drivers can save on fuel by using minimal force to steer. 

4) Safety and Driver-Assist Features

One last highlight of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is its safety and driver-assist features. The family-sized SUV features automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warnings, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high-beam headlamps. Nissan has also included its all-new semi-autonomous driving mode called ProPilot Assist. This mode works alongside adaptive cruise control to provide drivers with a hands-on assist system. It includes a stop and hold function that can make navigating traffic much easier.
